Jury duty pay in South Carolina
Per diem varies by county1
County statutes set different per diem amounts.
Your rights as a juror
- Mileage
- Five cents a mile going to and returning from court, with some counties setting different rates1
- Job protection
- An employer that dismisses or demotes an employee for obeying a jury summons can be sued for damages up to one year of wages2
- Postponing or being excused
- The judge may excuse a person or move them to a later term. Students and school employees may postpone to a date outside the school term1
Many counties pay more than the state minimum, and your summons usually says what you will be paid. If something here is not covered, your summons or the court clerk can tell you.
