Jury duty pay in Michigan
$25a day to start$40a day later on
Set by the county board. At least $25 the first day and $40 each later day, or $30 and $45 when the state reimbursement fund has enough money1
Figures are statutory minimums. Counties may pay more. Half days are paid at half the rate.
Your rights as a juror
- Mileage
- Set by the county board at not less than 20 cents a mile since April 1, 20181
- Job protection
- Threatening, disciplining or firing an employee for jury service is a misdemeanor and contempt. Employers may not require extra hours beyond the usual workday2
Which minimums apply depends on the state juror fund balance. Check with the court for the current rate.
Many counties pay more than the state minimum, and your summons usually says what you will be paid. If something here is not covered, your summons or the court clerk can tell you.
