- Mileage
- Per mile allowance up to the rate set by the Director of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, plus reasonable transportation and in some courts parking12
- Must your employer pay you?
- No. Federal law does not require employers to pay wages during jury service. Federal employees receive their regular salary1
- Job protection
- The Jury Selection and Service Act forbids any employer from firing, intimidating or coercing any permanent employee because of federal jury service1
- Postponing or being excused
- Contact the federal court that summoned you. Deferral or excusal may be granted for undue hardship or extreme inconvenience at the court's discretion3
Many counties pay more than the state minimum, and your summons usually says what you will be paid. If something here is not covered, your summons or the court clerk can tell you.
